game character

Hello to everyone in zland, I’ve been a member of this forum for a loooong time, but I have not posted for ages. Its so nice to see all the fresh faces doing crazy stuff with z brush, and its so good to see that a lot of the superstars are still posting, anywho onto my post. I wanted to give myself a bit of a challenge, I had an idea for a character but I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with it, wether I wanted to make it a game character or a film character, I decided that I would try to do both in one, so the challenge was this: To make a low poly game character, that could be rigged and animated and put into a game, but I want this low poly character to be able to power a high poly character to be used in cut scenes. So the workflow is kind of going like this. Make low poly in zb and tweak in Max- then rig in max (side challenge here learn to use max bones) then take the low poly in into zb and make a fancy high poly version of the character, then bring back into max and use the skinwrap feature to animate the zb high poly mesh. I also want to get multidisplacement down too in this project. I hope that all made sense. So this is where I’m up to.

Next step is to put muscles on, unwrap and make pretty, high poly zb model

Very good work Hitch.

Just a couple of questions: Did you generate separate displacement maps for the head and the body? If you did, how are you able to use them after combining the low poly head to the low poly body?

great creature are you gonna make an anim with him ? :+1: :+1: :+1:

Great character :+1: :+1: :+1:. Can´t wait to see a textured version.

Great character, you got my attention, now lets see the rest of the tutorial

Hi there

I hope you will continue working on your character. I see really good conceptualising and a very promising workflow. The character is adorable, and I see it already animated. So you are working in Max - love it. This was the first program, I started using. Best luck, I’ll keep checking for your new posts.
