Hi guys, I just had a quick question. I was wondering why when I load up the defaultcube project I get a nice cube that appears to be made up of a lot of even 4 sided polygons, but when I make a cube3d tool the top and bottom seem to be a mess while the sides are squares as expected? Sorry if this should be really simple, I just don’t understand why cube3d is not similar topology to the defaultcube project. Thanks.
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I just don’t understand why both tools have such different topology. Anyone? Seems like the cube on left would be much better in general I think? The cube3d on the right seems like it would just be a mess at times.
I don’t know why the Cube3D was modeled that way, but I know of a way to make a really quick primitive like the one you mentioned. Select any 3D tool, click Make PolyMesh 3D, go to Initialize, set the res for each side, and click QCube. This is a really great feature that was added to 4R7 afaik.
That’s pretty interesting. Will have to check it out in the morning if I don’t go into town to work out again. Thanks for the reply Karnaj.
Thanks again Karnaj. No idea why the normal cube3d tool is so messed up, but at least I can make cubes like the default cube project easily now. Cheers.
It’s not ‘messed up’. It has different properties as does a sphere and a cone…
I guess… Just not sure why you would want the cube to have a top and bottom like that. After you sub d it a few times it starts looking like a spider Web lol. Maybe I’m just missing the point.
