funky move problem

Sup guys. Im having problems moving objects around. Every time i try to move it around the canvas other settings seem to get changed with the object as well. In this case im trying to move a cylinder that ive already rotated around and moved off the backround. If i try to move it sideways to where i need it it automaticly rotates itself so im looking at the top or bottom and it goes back into the canvas partialy again heh. Extremely annoying. Is there some setting i may have messed up on accident or any idea whats up? Im going right bye the book im reading for this and dont have the rotate button on or anything, though even if that was on it shouldnt move itself back into the canvas i wouldnt think. Later.

No one has any idea what could be causing this? Is driving me nuts.

the only time I have an error rotating is when I try to do a 180…I have to do it 90 at a time for it to work. I’m not sure what you’re having trouble with, if you post up some pics that would probably help people understand what you’re talking about.

Ok. When i place a tool on the canvas and rotate it/move it forward away from the canvas so the tool isnt partially behind the canvas, if i click on move afterward and try to move the tool on the x/y planes it automatically turns itself perpendicular to the canvas and re sets itself partially into the canvas instead of being forward off of it on the z plane.
Example would be if i take the demohead tool and place it on the canvas, rotate it so its not looking strait at me and move it forward so none of it is cut off bye the canvas, then try to move it after that on the x/y plane…they second i move at all it is looking strait at me again and is partially behind the canvas again as if i had just placed it newly on the canvas.

Im going to try re installing zbrush and see if that helps.

Ok the top image is after i rotated/move the tool off the background. The bottom is what happens the second i move the tool anywhere on the x/y planes afterwards.

So anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? Im totally new to zbrush and am just trying to learn and this is killing me lol. I thought maybe the tool was aligning itself with the background of the document i was working on from the book but thats not it as it does the same thing on a new canvas that dosnt have the plane3d as a background.

just discovered something…dont know if it will help anyone figure out what the problem is but here goes. When i click on the gizmo to move the head, if i click on the 4 quarters inside the sphear so that i can freely move the head anywhere it does the auto rotate/sink into background thing. If i use the very top/bottom/left/right sides that constrain it to x/y movement only it does not auto rotate/sink back

Hey there,

lol … now i know what your problem is, you are actually going out of edit mode and click on move or rotate right?

Well stay in edit mode, click on move or scale or rotate and use the transpose line.

Hope that helps

Ok I can move/rotate the model without the problem happening if im in edit mode and use the move/rotate buttons on the right side of screen. It only has the problem if im in draw mode and have the gizmo up to move/rotate the tool. Seems like a bug to me but im not experienced enough to know. Just dosnt seem like it should rotate/move the tool back like it does when i try to move it with the gizmo in draw mode.
