One of my new favorites! Great work on everything. I will be keeping an eye on this thread and looking forward to seeing more. :+1:

Good evening and thank you all for your replies.

@Polarwolf:
I am working with apple´s OSX 10.5.7, 2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz. It is “only” a MacBook … :roll_eyes:
I also have a G5 here, but Zbrush does not run there because it has no intel core. I recognized this fact after buying Zbrush and then I bought this Macbook from a friend to be able to work with Zbrush.

@Danko:
It has 25 different subtools and the file got 225MB. Not so fat file, easy to handle.

…just some more pics…

This is so nice! :+1: i need know your render settings (maybe with screenshots?), lights and materials please, the render is very clear. :wink:

@Polarwolf:
There are no special settings. The first pic of the troll is “MatCapGrey” and the 2nd two are “MatCapWhite” from the standard Zbrush-matcaps.

Even no special rendering. Just klicked on render-best, waited 3 minutes till it was done and then exported the file as a psd and put them together in photoshop. That´s all.

These look awesome hell! :smiley:

The one crit I have on the latest guy is that the shoulder pads seem a little narrow in the side view. He would need a very slim build to fit into those, I think. But the sculpt itself is amazing! :+1:

Question about your work flow. Are these from zshperes or modeled in another app and only detailed in zbrush?

You are incredibly talented, amazing/inspiring work.

From an older reply to a question about anatomy reference, are there any books you highly recommend?

Loved this last model man!
Can´t wait to see your Thor :wink:

@Abberant:
I did it all in Zbrush, no other application. A little bit photoshop for, nothing else.

I started with the “polysphere 3D”, one of the standards of Zbrush. Modelling and structuring is all done with the different brushes and the different alphas. I also created some own alphas for this work.

The different subtools I created with “extract” or by using the Zbrush-standard forms. Some are made with Zspheres.

And no, I really have no special books or so. Anatomy is not so difficult like it seems often. There are +/- 400 muscles but as an artist you only need some of them, a few articulars and some bones. All is build up very logical. You only need a picture from 4 sides of a human without skin. You may take my “Adam” if you like to. And no matter what kind of person you want to sculpt - the anatomy is always the same.

@marionasteiner:
here it is.

This shall become a Thor. Very free interpretation, I know. Nothing is finished there. The shield is only a 5-minutes-sculpt-placeholder and I have no idea how the hammer shall looks like.
And yes, I took the skulls from the troll as the shoulder-pads for Thor.

Great work! :+1:

wow man…beautfiful work…
very nice intrepretation of thor u got ther!!!

can u tel me how did u make the cloth alpha texture so evenly…

huuuu nice man!
His face have some afro anatomy i think.
Really free interpretation.
May something like a caveman thor Oo

very nice sculpts… fine detailed. :slight_smile:

Really nice stuff:p

yoooohoooo awesome da jobs very well executed

as i always say keep em comin

hell666 Thank you very much for sharing your work flow. That is amazing that you started with a polysphere!

As for the anatomy, I know what you mean about not having to know all the muscles. Anatomy is something that I need to practice, I have a few books, but I always tend to get lost in the details. I think I try to be overly critical and I really just need the main forms. Another problem I have with some of the books I use as reference is the angles and poses the person is in. I might just invest in a small anatomy statue that I can sit on my desk. Anyway, thanks again for sharing. Amazing work.

@marionasteiner:
The alpha I used for the cloth is one of the many alphas, which we all can download from the pixologic alpha-library.

I took the standard brush, choosed the alpha and used it with “drag dots”. In some areas it was a bit dodgy but at least it works superb.

Hi everybody!

I´ve finished my “Thor” but I guess he is not longer “Thor”. For me he looks more like a normal celtic warrior or so. Thor should have more fat muscles and looks more like a god. So I have changed him to something like “Thor´s warrior” now.

Like always it is done with Zbrush and got some work in Photoshop.

By the way - the cloud/fog/dust in the background is painted with Paintstop in 5 minutes! Great app!

cool stuff in here-great work on all:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:
