Free Truespace v1

A while back there was some discussion of other 3D software to complement ZBrush.
I came across this the other day: http://www.pcplus.co.uk/article.asp?id=8556

It is a free (legal) copy of Truespace 1. While I am not a fan of Truespace in its current incarnation I was a huge fan of v1. It was the first 3D app I used and helped ease the learning curve a bit. It’s a very capable application.

There is also a quickie tutorial off that link. Might be worth plunking around with if you are interested in modeling things the “hard way”(ie. not in Zbrush)

thank you for the heads up…I downloaded it and it works fine…the interface is a bit confusing…I will have to look closely at their tutorial…has a bryce feel to it in a way…but I imported a zbrush head into it so I will get some play out of it…thnx again :+1: :+1:

downloaded it as well. but mine doesnt work…when i click Setup.exe i get this message:

cannot find file ’ _mstest.exe’

yea, trueSpace has always been a terrific mid budgit app that held very powerful tools within… though v1 did not have metatools included… and we all know the power of the blob…

I think that if you can get the handle of this app then version 4 would be a great place to start… you can get it for education purposes for 79 bucks ( no restrictions other than not to use for commercial purpose ) or buy the licence for commercial for a pretty reasonable 199 bucks.

A perfect compliment app for ZBrush fanatics…

I found a file in the same folder as Setup.exe named MSTEST.EX On my system, the setup program had no problem with that filename. What version of Windows are you using?

BTW, thanks, Nonproductive, for the link. Looks like an interesting program to ‘play around with’. :+1:

I’m glad folks found it useful.
There are a lot of tutorial resources on the web for TS to help get into the interface.

TSv1 was my very first 3D app. While the interface can be confusing at first, once you get the hang of it, it’s actually pretty productive. It’s a really, really excellent program to get started with.

It’s a shame really, as the current version of TS (v6) has become so bloated that the simplicity that made v1 so pleasant to work in, has been lost.

hi folks, I thought I should add a slight problem I found with tS v1, that being cursor freezes associated with my wacom Graphire2… ya nudge the regular serial mouse and the cursor is back in business, but, grab the graphire mouse and but one or two moves later bang…cursor freeze

this does not happen with v3 or v4 soooo???

anyways, thought I would pass this info along and see if anyone else notices the same or not…

wayne hoyt, yah i saw that file too. im running on Win 98. I really cant firgure out the problem so o well. but hopefully ill get 1.5 later today and then i wont need ts. thanks neway
