Forget Projection Master check this out !

Hey, just thought I would share my new experiment. I wanted to be able to preview my art work full size, so I bought a home theater projector, 24-140 inch screen not bad. I was hoping to actually paint and sculpt with it to, the resolution is a bit low, 480p native resolution so that is proving a bit challenging. But I think it will work out, reading the text is really hard. I am going to hook it up as my second monitor, and that should work pretty good. I would definitely recommend getting higher resolution . 480 is extremely low, so I bet res over 1000 would be totally awesome! Anyways its pretty fun, looking forward to experimenting with this more.

thats really cool, posting/looking and working on stuff on your wall. i feel sometimes the walking into a room and seeign your work either finnished or progressed as a self reward gets lost to a degree with the digital medium.

For a second I thought this was like one of those live presentations from pixologic at the Gnomon School. Hehehe!

Have fun with it!

very kewl idea…thought about doing something like that a while back…but the projecters are pretty expensive…but Wal-mart here had an inexpensive one for about 300 bux…dunno the quality that it has to offer compared to what you have here?

I used an old 1980s model big screen tv once with zbrush…was too blurry…

techonology has come a long ways in the last few years since that tv blew up…

thnx for the heads up

Hi Harmonic, I just came home from playing Xbox on a projection screen, I never thought of doing that. That would be a new experience and probably hard to ever go back to a monitor. 50.

Exactly, zeke3d, I have really been missing that since I started working digitally. I also found finishing a piece difficult because the only time I could look for mistakes is while I am working was working on it.

Ron, this is a pretty low quality projector, I got it for $375 on eBay, factory refurbished. Really it works great for movies. But with a still image the “screen door effect” is more noticeable. And as I said reading the text is near impossible. I am working on getting it hooked up as my second monitor (but none of the stores here carry DVI VGA adapters:mad:  )so I can do all my navigating on my regular monitor and paint and sculpt with the projector, or have the projector display the full image while I zoom in on my monitor. Is that possible?? :qu: does any one no how to do that??:qu: :qu:

50’sKID, you may be right, it my be hard to go back to a monitor. And I am definitely leaning towards buying a higher quality projector in the future instead of a Wacom Cintique tablet, seems a better use of $2500.

…indeed!

Ok, here is that setup I have for now. I am pretty happy with it. I wanted to have the projector above me and farther back so I could have a bigger screen, but this is still very cool at least for now. In Photoshop I figured out how to show the piece I am working on full screen on the projector, and zoom in and work on my monitor. This way I can keep an eye on the hole composition when I zoom in. But I haven’t figured out a way to do it in zbrush, if anyone knows how please let me know??? :qu: :qu: Hope you found my experiment interesting, I am certainly having fun with it.
