??? for Aurick or EZ or other guru

I have had Southern’s default zscript on my computer almost as long as I have had zbrush. The problem was, not all of the zscripts seemed to work when called from this default, so I never used my default ZScript except to change doc size and background color. I have since gotten everything to work EXCEPT…
The problem now lies in ZList, which I recently added thanks to Thelonius’ tip. I can store thumbnails of any item, but cannot recall them from the ZList. What is happening?

Just from the first problem with the defualt script, my guess would be that the files are not in the right path.

I believe that the solution is to move the contents of the ZList folder into the ZSript folder. But I’m not 100% sure on this.

A similar problem took place with the MaterialPack, and rather than monkey around with it I just left the script alone and load it the old fashioned way.

If you try moving the contents to the ZScript folder, you will of course have to edit the Default script to reflect the new location. That’s very easy.

If it works, let me know. I may just break down and do the same thing, because the ZList really is a handy critter.

I realized that the problems I had with MaterialPack and MaterialList originally came from trying to change an item while still on the default “Fast Shader”. As soon as I chose another material, everything worked fine, without having to move any folders or paths. I will try moving everything to the default script folder, but that would make it a very “busy” folder, hard to find anything else that I add. It’s weird, when I try to store the material or tool or texture, a perfect thumbnail is created, but I can’t use it. Hmmm.

Slosh,

I find that moving scripts around makes ZBrush very sensitive. Scripts can easily exhibit strange behaviour. For example suddenly if I check the show and tell in texturemaster the spash screen is some test pic I did ages ago. I loaded a fresh default txt file and it went back to normal once then it came up with the strange screen again. I’m sure many others have experiences whacky unpredictable behaviour with their scripts occasionally.

To get back to the Z list, it is a massive file with 400 slots. perhaps it would be better to load it and use it in the normal way, without trying to do anything tricky with it.

I think everyone has the right idea. Like I said at the beginning, I’ve had Southern’s default as my default for 3 months now, but never used it. I always had to load TextureMaster and MaterialPack the long way. At least now I can access most of the scripts with it, so using ZList the old fashioned way is not a big deal…
