fleshy material?

could any one point me towards a thread or a tutorial
that will help me create the fleshy material seen recently in the Norrr creature posted by pixolator as a 121 test? iwould like to try to apply it to my 1st zbrush head

also - can someone suggest how to lose the mesh that can still be seen and what might be a good way to apply a lip texture?
any suggestions would be appreciated!

Funny head.

See the Practical Guide for the “Warrior” tutorial by Jean-Sebastien Rolthion. It demonstrates how to create a very skin-like material using the Quad Shader material. Or just download this: QuadShaderSkin.zip (there, I made it for you. Seems to work pretty well but it’s a bit “glowy”, you may want to adjust some values).

See if the Quick Edit mode is on; if it is, switch it off (since it disables the smooth subdivision). If the object is still not smoothed after it’s drawn, try adjusting the Tool --> Display Properties --> DSmooth (smoothness tolerance) to 1 and DRes (draw resolution) to larger than 1.

Lips texture? I presume you mean the grooves and wrinkles on the lips. Would you prefer to use Projection Master or just paint it on the canvas in 2.5D? Either way, using the Directional Brush with the “dots” alpha and a Freehand stroke with 0 spacing works pretty well for drawing multiple parallel grooves for hair, fingerprints and lips. If you do it with Projection Master, make sure the mesh has enough resolution for small detail like that.

Or you can use the Bump Viewer material to draw the lip bump into the displacement map as demonstrated in this post.

thanks skaven, i guess i should have mentioned i’m using the 1.55b demo version - so i dont think ican try all your recommendations…

Hi Ron this is Ron…LOL…just had to do that…anyways…I have included one human skin that is not mine but works and also 2 zombie skins that are fleshy you might try…they all work in 1.55b so there ya go…the thing that I am learning is that with the right lighting and material combos is that you can achieve alot of color and depth on the model with just those elements …at any rate have fun…
