First ZBrush Try, please Critique - Leprechaun

Hi all,

I’m stoked using zBrush finally. It was a pain getting through the interface, but now it’s going. Any info to get the Smooth standard brush to work better would be greatly appreciated. The clothes are too lumpuy, and I’ve turned up the smooth brush to 100% and sculpted the hell out of it to no avail.

Hope to hear from the group here. Beautiful work I’ve seen so far.

go down a few levels…turn smooth down a bit til ya see how it works…

it works best if ya go down a couple levels…smooth…go to next level up smooth a bit and smoooth the area and repeat til ya get to top level you are at.

looks like a good start…look forward to seeing what ya do with him.

Gotta be quick around here…I was going to say the same thing.
Good sculpt anyway.

Walla,

thanks for the reply, it worked.

Any crits on improving this character would be greatly appreciated. I’m adding buttons, not sure if his costume needs anything firther. Perhaps a nicely shaped pipe and a pot of gold.

Hi,

You could try to mask off sections that really need smoothing then use ‘smooth’ a couple of times from the ‘Deformations’ menu. The key is to mask off the correct sections. It also does help go down a level or two then smooth (deformation not brush), bring it up then smooth, bring it up to the full level then smooth, etc…

Cheers,

REvanto,

Thanks, i was just getting started and now I understand how to smooth at the lower levels first. Your suggestions helped. The masking brush CTRL+drag does mask too well at the lowerst subdivision levels. I tried to mask areas to add edgeloops and the way it added the loops cuased a lot of problems as well.

It is still a fun process even on the throw wawy tries.
