First time post, in need of guidance.

hello all-

this is my first post to this site, and may I say that the work I have seen on this site is amazing! keep up the good work. So here is my situation, I am a full time traditional sculptor and am interested in learning how to sculpt digitally. I know nothing about the various programs, except what I have read, and I am wondering if any one has any advice for me on what program to use, or where to start my journey. Also, can you output these files, to get a physical 3d model? If so how and with what equipement? I know it seems like alot, but I truley am at stage 1! Thanks in advance to anyone that can give me a direction to follow. I look forward to your responses, and seeing more amazing work!

well. your here so why not start with zbrush? its a great program, very easy to learn also, and very powerful.

as for printing off 3d models, you would need a special printer, dont know how or where you can get one. all i know is they are expencive…very. however there is a program that allows you to take 3d objects and digitise them… do a google serch on it, brings up lots of options.

Thanks for the reply! Did you have any previous knowledge of this program or any other ones before you started 3D sculpting? If not, you just jumped in and went for it, and it was pretty easy to catch on? Any good books or tutorials that you know of?

Hi iv only just started out and iv been using the digital tutors videos they have been very good sofar

personaly i cant afford much of the vidios or anything like that, im only 17… i had a hard enough time buying zbrush lol.
the only other program iv used is blender 3d. its open source & free. its pretty different then zbrush and honestly a week program. however it does have the ability to edit point-by-point. giveing more flexability to make things like base meshes. ill never use it again tho. it was a nice learning tool for me, helped me teach myself the termonology of 3d modeling.

everything iv doen with zbrush i learned myself with no schooling or anything…i cant follow tuts either, this forum is verry helpful tho.

Thanks! That is good to know. I appreciate the help.
