Finding time for ZBrush

Hey all,

I am new to this forum and I was wondering…how do you all find time to use ZBrush? I see such tremendous talent on this forum and I am sure that there are many who do this type of work for a living, but what about those who do it in their spare time. I work an 8 hour job and have two children and the only time I can find to work with ZBrush is from 10:00pm to 3:00am on Friday and Saturday nights. Is there anyone who can recommend any tutorials that will teach the workflow of ZBrush? Thanks for all the help you guys have contributed to this forum and I hope someone can give me some direction.

Thanks,
toshgaal

I like the meats myers at gnomon. gnomon has many good tutorials. I think its gnomon3d.com or something

I suppose a lot of us are not professionals, we just manage.
I get up early (5:45 AM) so I can sculpt 60-90 minutes before going to work. Sometimes when I come back from work (10PM) I sculpt a little bit, otherwise the week-ends. I’m lucky I don’t have kids !!!

About tutorials, I just used what’s available on pixologic.com, and some stuff found online… I also have the “ZBrush character creation” book that I find pretty valuable so far.

http://gnomonology.com/prod/19 I think Zack Petroc’s video is particularly good.

There are also some free tutorials on youtube and veoh that are helpful, as well.

gotta love lmgtfy ^^
I can see how its hard to get into sculpting with that little time and so
must responsibility.
Id better make use of my 13pm to 4 am time aslong as im a student

Thanks for all the info guys . I’m sure if I want to learn ZBrush, I will have to find the time. Getting up early may be an option. Thanks again for the tut links. I will post my first attempt when I get something done. It may be 2010 the way I’m going.

I know how you feel as I have very little time to use Zbrush and most of the stuff I post is very simple work as I am establishing a work routine.

As you build up files of good base meshes and various common objects, your process should speed up. Sometimes when doodling, I’ll make a bunch of simple objects like vases, Jewelry, and chains to build a catalogue of items to reuse in later projects.

Hope this helps!

I’m a morning person so I always found getting up an hour earlier a good strategy to do personal work. If you can make it part of your routine you can get a lot done. Theres even the added benefit of having fresh eyes each day to critique things, instead of putting your head down for 3 hrs straight.

I’ve always found it far easier to do personal work in the morning vs trying to muster the energy after work or later in the evening. After work I just want to have supper and veg out - decompress!

yess!, the zclassroom tutorials, here in pixologic.com, are fantastic, they have several tuts for different things, alphas, sculpture, introduction, a foundation of everything, im a newbie, so for that reason i love that tutorials haha, and it’s a little sad that here in mexico, zbrush is not an usual software, no tutorials or books or things like that, i like to practice zbrush in the evenings listening good music, is the best haha
