file is causing crashes. cant isolate problem.

Ive been using zbrushcore with no problems for awhile, but my most recent file keeps causing crashes. its a simple mannequin, no more than a few hundred thousand polygons, and 4 subtools (arm, head, torso, leg). i can open this file with no problem. However, if i do any work (currently trying to add a foot subtool) and save the file with an updated name, the new file will crash zbrushcore the next time i try to open it. my previous files still work perfectly fine, so i suspect its something ive done to this file on accident. i know its a shot in the dark, but has anyone else experienced this, or know what may cause such an issue?

I don’t know what this could be but if you can upload the file somewhere I’ll take a look.

Thanks in advance for any time you spend looking at this for me. This link should let you download the last version of the file that will still open for me. As I said previously, it seems like every time I really spend time blocking in the foot and then save, the new file will crash Zbrushcore.

edited to add: I did realize that the poly count is bigger than I thought it was (~1.2 million) but I’ve modeled plenty of other sculpts with millions of polys, so I’m confident that’s not the issue)

Hi,

Thanks for the file. I couldn’t find what’s wrong - it didn’t crash or fail to open for me. (I tried adding a new subtool and sculpting for a bit.) I would advise not to use period in the file name though - use underscores _ or hyphens - instead, just in case.

I’ve saved the file again, in case it makes a difference for you:

Another thing you might try is using the Copy Tool and Paste Tool at the top of the Tool palette to copy the model into a different project. For example, copy the tool and then open the Cube.zpr from the Projects tab in Lightbox and press Paste Tool. Then save the project with a new name. That might prevent something that is causing ZBruishCore to become unstable getting stored in the file (though note that any other models in the project won’t be copied over!).

Thanks for looking at it for me, and thanks for the advice, I’ve been able to block everything in and continue working after setting up a new project, and everything seems to be working fine again. Its gonna bug me that I can’t figure out what I did, but I haven’t had any other problems with the program, so I’m sure it was just some hiccup.
