fiber material?

hey there

im trying to figure out how to do hair in zbrush.

i see that if i have a matcap sculpy in 2.5 i can just choose a brown color and use the fiber brush tool and paint on him fine

im trying to figure out how to do this exact thing but in full 3d so i can rotate him still?


i know that the fiber brush tool only works in 2.5 so all thats left then is the fiber material.

i had my model in matcap sculpy and i want to add brown hair - i click on the fiber material but ofcourse it makes the whole entire model the fiber setting.

how would i go about simply painting it on like a brush?

At the top of your material modifiers, click the Copy Shader button. Select the fibers material that you want to use, go to the S2 channel (which is the base material info) and click the Paste Shader button. What you’ll now have is a copy of your base material, but with a fibers element.

Fill your model with the non-fiber version of the material. (Turn on Draw>M and press Color>Fill Object) Then select the fiber version and paint it where you want it.

i cannot figure it out because i do not know what you mean by the s2 channel. what i am assuming is im pasting the shader back in the material pallet section. when i do this it brings up a custin material thing to choose in a new user material section.

when i fill the object with the regular peach its fine. and then i choose the user material, that new one and it makes the whole entire sphere have fibers.

i think i am pasting the shader in the wrong area what exactly is the S2 channel?

Just remember that the fibers modifiers will only work in the S1 channel.

i dont know, i guess i will never be able to figure it out.
i tried what you said with the copying and pasting shaders.

also seeing that when i pasted it went to the s2 channel.

whenever i fill an object with peach its fine. but when i then go to the fibers to draw where i want, it fills the whole object with that material and not the specific area.
