Female Anatomy Study **Nudity**

I have not posted anything in a really long time but still have frequented the boards to c what is going on in the land of Z Brush. I must say that there is some amazing artists here creating great works of art. Here is something I am currently working on to try and learn female anatomy and to hopefully one day be as good as the great artists that post here. Please give crits and comments about this piece as I am wanting this to be a portfolio piece and by maybe getting a few pointers from the great artists here it will become one.

Here is an update on her progress. Worked on the head the feet and the over all body proportions. Feedback is appreciated as I said wanting this to be a good portfolio piece. So if anyone has any comments or sees something off please let me know.

looking pretty good so far… I’ll offer my two cents, but you might want to take them with a a couple grains of salt too

the features seem a bit too straight in some areas… the legs are locked a bit uncomfortably and spread outwards, and the wrist, back of the hands, and backs of the arm seem flatter and boxier than what one might except on a female human. It’s hard to tell without a side view, but I feel the hips and pelvis should come forward a bit. Lastly, something feels off in the armpit area, I’m not sure if the ribcage should come out a bit, or if the point where the deltoids and pectorals meet should come in. I could be quick off, but those are the areas that caught my eye.

I’m curious, will you keep her in T pose or break the symmetry and pose her elsehow?

Talster thanks for the feedback. I am not sure if i will keep her in this pose or not. I Probably will only because that is the pose the reference is in. That way I can show the two together. Here is a side view and some of the reference images I am using.

nice start  You’re doing well sticking with the reference it seems, but there are a few areas that it looks like you could adjust:

-looks like the ribcage might be slightly short, which is causing the breasts to seem high and the shoulder joint to seem too thin. something in that area seems a bit off anyway.
-hands might be a little small (this is extremely easy to do when making female models – its a fine line between too small and mannish ;))
-ankle bones are too low – they looked more correct on the first post, perhaps you inadvertently moved them
-the pectorals, traps, delts, and sternomastoid all seem a bit too pronounced, giving a male feel
-the slope of the back moves forward too quickly – the ref’s back arch is a sharper angle than the C shape you have, this causes the bottom of her ribcage and waist to seem thin in a not-enough-room-for-organs kind of way. Also causes her bottom to feel like it goes all the way up to the midpoint of her back.

  • The head isn’t looking very feminine or attractive to me, but this is quite subjective. I’d reduce the size of her chin and jaw, make her lips wider, make her eyes bigger, move the features as a whole downward slightly, shrink the forehead, and soften features overall.

Anyway, most of these things are small adjustments, and possibly not correct, Just me nitpicking a bit. Again I think you’ve got a great start here

Thanks for the feedback oofnish. I went over the the model and tweaked the areas you brought my attention to. Other than the hands I have reworked the whole model. Here are the results let me know what you all think. Thanks again for the extra set of eyes on this.

I see some good improvements although I think you could still push it further with the things I saw before. Shoulders are looking better I think, but still a bit harsh. I think the biggest things that I"m still seeing are
the traps - they’re too ‘built’. instead of a convex curve in the front view, they should be a slightly concave curve; a softer ramp from shoulder to neck. Also, from the side view, they look too thin, almost as if there’s ‘webbing’ between her shoulder and neck.
The arch in the back seen in the side view doesn’t seem to match the reference. Yours has a section of the curve that approximates a vertical line, creating a much more gradual curve. The reference’s back is more similar to a ‘<’ symbol, with a much more abrupt change lower in the back. This would terminate her butt lower and adds needed volume to her torso.

Face is still feeling masculine to me, but hair+texture might fix that. The pec to delt wedging still catches my eye as well, but that looks pretty accurate to the reference.

Good progress

Did more tweaks to her as sudjested by oofnish. Not really sure about the arch to the back if it is correct yet. Let me know what you think.

There we go, much better, I think. On to the next level of detail!

Thanks oofnish. Now it is on to retopo actually my base mesh on this isnt very good in some places, so I must do that first. Thank you for your valuable input on this sculpt. More to come soon.

Ok worked on the hair added eyelashes and started on the texture. Let me know how shes coming good or bad.

i like this so far. i think the model was the same girl my teacher used as a reference to show us how to model people.
right now, the only thing that’s bugging me (if you’re going for a likeness) are her chin and cheeks. they’re really broad.

Thanks for the reply Tyrone. Made some tweaks to the face to try and improve the likeness. Let me know what you think.

looking good but you do need to feminise the face…such a male masculine jaw line?

Thanks for the reply minester. Im trying to stick to the reference and she has a pretty pronounced jaw line. Mine may be a tad much though. Ill work on it.

I was trying to be tactful…and the names minister. Your “interpreting” the models jaw incorrectly…I could do a graphic overlay to prove my point (and others?) but life is too short. sigh

If we’re going to nitpick typos, we should make sure that we have our own dotting and crossing under control eh? You know, possessives, contractions, plurals, and the like.
His response to your critique was completely positive, no need to get surly. Have a bad morning after the last football match have we?

I do agree in principal however. The face is a bit plastic and masculine. The general proportions are coming along well, but the face stands out as an area to improve. Perhaps some “weight in the hands” they feel very static and rigid, I would relax them just a bit.

Keep it going!

Obz?..get out more…sheeesh

:laughing:small_orange_diamond:+1:

It was tongue in cheek man. No worries.

Nice Job so far. I think the face needs a little more cuiteness to it.

The render is nice. is that done in ZBrush?
