Feedback Help Needed. Please spend 1 min and read my post

Hello my good Cgi Friends I am currently studding multimedia in Nottingham doing a pathway called virtual environments that is 3d oriented for animation, virtual environments and games. I am asking all of you for a big favour I am done with my university work and now are my vacation and I would like to do something to make my portfolio more completely so what i am asking you is to go and criticise as much as my work as possible and help me find what would be a good idea to do over the summer i am most interesting in modelling rather animation or rigging so please have that in mind.

This is some images of my best work but you don’t have the ability to comment on them but is easier to just see what have done. http://realexisch.carbonmade.com/

SO Please go on my blogger i know is not the easiest to navigate within it but I did my best to put them in some order to make it a bit easier http://realexis.blogspot.com/

I can’t wait to hear for you and tell me what do and what you think about my work I would like you to be brutally honest, Thank you Very much.

I also post the same thing in the questions and troubleshooting forum. But then i realize that the community forum made more sense so i am sorry for posting the same thing agen.

i think you should post a thread in the main forum actually containing your images instead of hoping people will jump to your blog/site.

Looked through both photographs and “Modelling”.
Some great images here, a virtual banquet of 3d images.
Some hit me as striking, some not so much.
Have a suggestion.
Weed through the collection and cut it down to about
10 of what you think shows your work in the best light.
I have my own likes and dislikes, as does everyone else.
There are too many images of too many types to really
zero in on and critique.
The best part is that picking a smaller number is not too
difficult, lots of great stuff to pick from.
Best of luck!!!
( as a photographer you know where my prejudices lie;) )

thank you for your intrest and i will go through the imagers i have on carbonmade and clean it up a bit. Please even if it hard to coment on the images i would realy appreciated if you leave some coments on my bloger ons spesific work. thx agen for your time

Took longer than a minute:D

Ill second biccs observations just so that u dont think he is wrong and
everyone thinks other.
Cant even say i like the (vue?) Landscapes and for some one that knows
how vue works its not a big miracle how to produce such terrains.

Right now your biggest potential is hard surface works.
The playground and the house are the best up till now.

Right now your 3d portfolio is more a amateuer i like to do 3d at times one,
if thats your intention which i guess its not it would be fine.
If you really want to work in that job at any time you have to work at home
you have to show yourself how good you could be as obviously your
university isnt doing their part.
The pictures are nice looking but also nothing too special,
macro pics look cool and all but its kinda like walking through china
with a camera… its very hard not to do good pictures.
Theres so so so many nature and macro photographers out there
that can do similar or better work.

Right now you have to decide whats your biggest interest and dig deeper
into it i guess.

Bicc39 and Disco Stu this is brilliant thank you so much.
My goal is not simply to be an amateur but to be able to get a good job that will not offer me money but the opportunity to be surrounded with people that are much better than me so that i can evolve and be able to do some of the amazing illustrations we see here in z-bursh central. evrerything you see here i learned it by myself cause my university’s “curiculum” is not really helpful and sometimes holds me back especially when i have to do esays:p. The reason the images seem to be in a mess is because i wanted to show that i experiment with lots of different programs and that i could be useful in a variety of places. i know that this portfolio would not offer me a job but i hope that it will help me get an internship or other opportunities. i will clean it up and simplify it. thank you again i will consider your comments. i really like meats myer’s work, from which i also discovered zbrush.

Hey no problem

The thing with Meats Meiers style is that it quickly looks stolen
and a lot of people know how to achieve it.
You can use it no problem but try going into your own style
with the techniques provided.
Its like many after effects demo reels that all feature the same tutorials
by videocopilot. They are lame when its just the same as in the tutorials
but when people just use the learned techniques with something original
and different it makes a way bettter impression  :+1:

It’s also helpful to consider the portfolio in terms of what type of job your trying to land.

I don’t work in games or cinema, but even in my field you specialize your book based on the client… i.e. only show whats relevant, and less is more. In other words; a couple of your best pieces, that are specifically related to the position your after will likely do much better for you than tons of images that are only marginally related. It’s not a bad idea to build out your decks per gig that you apply for.

That being said I’m probably not the right one to guide you, but general idea may be helpful to consider.

thank you agen for the intrest.
I would like to say firsty that ididnt stolen the style of meats meier but i most mostly influens from a a video that i saw from TED that i cant remeber exactly wich one whas it but it gave some informtion on how the eyes and the brain works to persive an image and how “lines” eges mostly are one of the frst things that the brain seeks and lets say “likes” coz of the way it works. this is an over simplfication but my english are realy bad and its so hard to explane what i whas trying to do, anw the one that looks abit like meats meier whas done in 3d max and not the way meat dose it i did it will i found an interasting plug in and whanted to do something more with it. i dont mine having thinks that look like something some one alse but i just cant just copy the same thing he did thats boring. anw i do anderstand what you are trying to say just liked to clear that up ;o)

Super Glitcher thx for the respond. And i would like to say that for now the poflolio is made to get feed back and hopefully get me some job expirence will stadying and then hopefully get me in to bormoth university for a master, witch is what i would like to do next and i found some e mails of ex students and e mail them some time ago and told me that i would not show them the tecnical aspects of my work just the best and focus on a moe artestic point so. And i dont feel that i have any great pisses of work just some cool looking staff that dosent say mutch but when i will aply ofisialy for a job thats exactly what i am gona do.
