Feature 2D Animation Questions

Feature 2D Animation Questions:
Looking for a Disney style (golden age hand drawn effect)

I have the following software-
ZBrush 3.5r3 (ZBrush4)
Photoshop CS4 Extended
After Effects Pro CS4
Premiere Pro CS4
Illustrator Pro CS4
Flash Pro CS4
Sonar 8.5 Studio

Plus a lot of pencils and paper:)

Are programs able to create feature animations?
If so any workflow ideals.
TIA

Here’s a link to a painting for doing a pan.

How much bigger does the painting (image size) need to be from frame size to pan?
I guess After Effects for pans?

It depends… ask yourself first: How much will the camera move in the pan?

This wonderful sotware (PAP) now is free to use how you like it.

Toon Boom Company offers too a lot of pro softwares for 2d animation

These 2 are good too, but very expensive.

My recomendation is to use Plastic Animation (PAP) to draw the chars, as it’s a free software now, Photoshop or Zbrush for BG paintings and use After Effects to put all togheter on the screen.

Good luck!

From France, TVPaint is another 2D animation package (pixel based) used by a lot of 2D animators, world wide. The robust software is currently at version 9.5 and has been around for over a dozen years. There are two different levels of the software, standard and professional.

Download the trial package to try out at their website:

They also have a public beta version of TVPaint for Linux, available on request.
