Fbx export-insertion point

Hi all,

I export models in fbx format all the time with no problem.
From time to time I export something for use in Lumion, and when I do the insertion point is at the center of the object. (in the image, the cube is placed half sunk into the ground instead of sitting on it)

Is there something I can do to set the insertion point at the bottom of the exported model without using third party applications ?
thank you.

Hello @Aris

I notice your use of the term “insertion point”. Is this for the purpose of inserting the mesh as an Insert mesh brush?

If this is the case the control would be two part:

  1. When creating the IM brush, orientate your mesh in the desired fashion against the screen plane as if the screen plane is the surface of the mesh.

  2. Control the depth of the imbed with Brush> Depth> Imbed.

:slightly_smiling_face:

No, Probably I didn’t explain it well:
I am talking about EXPORTING an fbx.
When I export an fbx from zbrush and import it to lumion, it sinks in the ground instead of sitting on it.
My background is in architecture (cad/max) where insertion point (or reference point/origin point) is the point you use to define a block’s / object’s position in 3d space.

Usually, when I export fbx files from those programs into Lumion, the insertion point is the point 0,0,0 of the program’s axis system, or you can define it yourself. When I export fbx files from zbrush into lumion, the insertion point is the center of the object. (I hope that made it clear)

Is there a way to control where this point is when I export an fbx from zbrush?
