FBX 4r8 - High poly meshes do not export

I’ve been having an issue where I can not get high poly meshes to export. It used to be slow before, but it happened eventually. Sub 50k poly meshes export after a good while. Very slow but it happens.

Steps to reproduce:
Subdivide a mesh to 1 mill polygons (more or less) - UV’s, polypaint, maps, no matter, straight dynamesh is the same
Export to FBX - Settings to not seem to make a difference, think i tried them all.
Get an immediate export completed in the top left, but Zbrush is still working.
Wait for an hour
Still nothing.

Can anyone confirm, or is there something wrong on my end?

Have you updated to P1? Be sure to follow the update instructions.

If you are exporting the .fbx out of zbrush with “SNormals” turned on, it seems to be highly recommend to set the “Smoothed Normals Amount” in the fbx export options to “100” otherwise it can take forever to export hp models.

Piece of advice ( despite the P1 patch)

When exporting fbx keep snormals off for high poly meshes and turn it on only for low poly ( base) meshes if exporting both.
Or adjust normals in Maya/Max…
