exporting tile textures in zbrush

So When you try to make a tile texture in zbrush as a document, everything looks great, ~ key works awesome but i get this black line 2 or 3 pixels thick on the top and another thinner one at the bottom on i export. This line is not a boarded but actually covers over what’s underneath. When i export the alpha of the doc it doesn’t have it.

I searched the forum but all the post i found on this are 2 to 4 years old.

Anything new on this that i missed? This pretty much hamstrings the whole idea of using zbrush for tile textures.

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Make your tileable canvas.
  2. In the Document palette set new dimensions that are 10 pixels wider and higher. (10 is a nice, round number) Crop the document.
  3. In the Layer palette, adjust the X and Y offsets by the amount you just resized the document. So if you use 10 pixels larger for the crop, you’d offset X and Y by 10 in the Layer palette.
  4. Do your best render and export the document.
  5. In Photoshop, crop to the original dimensions.
You’ll now have a perfect, seamless texture.

Of course, a ZScript or macro could automate steps 2-4

thank you Aurick!
