exporting material from zbrush to 3dsmax and geing the same feel in ur max render.

i think the title is enough… question is how to do it.
as far as i know. .Obj brings a .mtl file with itwenever we export obj from a 3d application but how can we embedd a material into a mesh so that we can get it in mx and/or any other 3d application which is gonna be used as mother application for lightin or render etc. is it possible in zb2.?? is it possible with .obj export? coz zbrush lets u import dxf but it doesnt let u export in dxf. and i even dont know if dxf handles materials or can brin material info with it or not?? … anyway i need a simple discription on this matter. any one please help/ thanx

I think when you paint texture with material button switched on in PM, the material gets embedded in the texture map(not in the .obj) which can be exported and imported in max.

For exact renderings you will have to refer to max lightings to get exact effect.

I havent used other softwares much, so let aurick answer this.

thanx for ur reply
but there is a difference betwean Map and Material.
Map is a 2d image which can be any image format and u can export ur Painted/baked maps from zb in psd format. thats not the question
Question is about Materials (not maps) i think people who use zb or max materials can easily understand the question.

I think here is the catch

zbrush does export its material with the map texture as a seperate grayscale channel in psd file. check it out yourself.

In max material and textures needs to be applied differently but zbrush exports its material with the texture which when applied in max with proper lightings and max material(if you want) can give really good results.

That is why today zbrush is regarded as the best in the industry for texturing.

Materials are a set of instructions to the rendering engine, telling the engine how to handle light that reaches the surface of the object. All rendering engines are different, and so the materials that they use are unique to those engines. Materials cannot be exported from one program to another. You can’t take a ZBrush material into Maya any more than you can take a Maya material into C4D or a C4D material into Max.

Please see the FAQ here at ZBC. This subject is covered there already, along with some info for options that ARE possible to you.

thanx alot aurik thats exactely wat i asked for.
