Experiences with Zbrush and the Huion 610 pro

Does anyone use zbrush primarily with a huion 610 pro tablet? I purcahsed one awhile back and its been nothing but a headache sculpting.

Ive always read how using a tablet is 100 times better than mouse but NO ONE ever says WHAT tablet. For me, im quick with a mouse and I can get quick and nice details using lazy nezumi. However I decided to take a shot at getting a tablet but I didnt want an expensive one. A huoin is like the only tablet you can get unless you plan to spend 100s on a wacom with touch.

I took a few weeks practicing with a tablet. Im used to it but this is my general experience…

  • Cursor occasionally gets stuck on the right side of the screen.
  • Zooming in occassionally gets you too close or too far.
  • Buttons get stuck.
  • Pressure sensitivity occassionally goes full on pressure even with gentle movements.
  • Panning is a pain (need to keep pen not on the tablet but a bit over it hovering).
  • Turning in general is a hassle.

Its only for zbrush though. Manga Studio works great (so does photoshop, i leant the tablet to a friend).
Ive reinstalled my tablet drivers a few times just to see if it would fix the issues inside zbrush but no go.

As of now im just gonna use a mouse because the “pressue” I can get from a tablet doesnt seem worth it. I definitley got what i paid for.

It probably depends on the tablet, as you suggested. I’ve been using a Wacom 22HD for a few months on a paying project and I have no issues with it in ZBrush. In fact is has speeded up my sculpting workflow greatly.
Previously I used a Yiynova DP10 and it got me used to the workflow of a tablet. The DP10 was sometimes buggy with ZBrush and the drivers are poor and support even poorer, leaving us to rely on other users for help. But I guess we get what we pay for.

Yeah pressure levels is not so successful but still useful. I assigned 8 shortcuts for ZBrush to tablet and now it’s really fun to sculpting. So fast so easy. Really good for that money to me.
