"Exiled Wizard" Anatomy Study (nudity)

Hello everyone,

Here is my latest work. I decided to use the base mesh of an old model to do a human anatomy study.

The back story to this character is that he is a wizard who has been exiled from a kingdom and forced to live in the wilderness. The main point of this was to treat it as a fine art piece similar to what figures looked like in paintings of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio and Rembrandt, not that I think my work is as good, but that was the goal.

This is actually my first serious attempt at doing a complete full body sculpt of the human form and I think I did quite well though I do see a lot of areas that need improvement. One lesson I find hard to learn is to know when a model is done, I could keep tweaking things forever.

I was trying to go for subtle emotions for the face. I wanted to give him the look of contempt for the thing he is cursing and give him a look like he is chanting in his head. I also wanted to try and capture the look people get in the middle of strenuous movements. I’m not sure it comes through when its a picture of the head alone though. I also wasn’t concerned about putting in such high frequency details as skin pores, the exercise wasn’t about that kind of detail, it was more about communicating the emotion of the character through his gesture.

I hope you guys like it, comments are always welcome.

Thats really good.
Love the pose.love ya staff.nice works :).
Wouldnt mind seeing a close of his face.it looks very detailed compared to chest stomach area:).Great work:).

thanks DELTATHUND3R for the nice words. I will try and get a picture of his face up some time tonight,

The reason his stomach isn’t as detailed is because he is leaning back and all his stomach muscles are being extended and his skin is being stretched so there shouldnt be too much detail in the way of wrinkles or saggy skin in that region. Its the same with his chest, even when bodybuilders raise their arms they loose alot of volume as the muscles are stretched and their lower chest looses that crease… though I probably could possibly detail the ribcage a little more if i were to go back and tweak this some time.

thanks for your comment

Very nice and natural sculpt to the man…and the pose’s wonderful too :+1: :+1:
