Establish initial XYZ-orientation

Hi,

my all-time problem in Zbrush is to get the axis right.

There is no clear indicator as to how my tool is oriented in XYZ.

In MODO I have my coordinate-grid clearly advising me with -XYZ and +XYZ where/and how oriented to X/Y/Z-axis are. In Maya or 3dsmax there is that funny but very helpful cube in the upper right corner of the viewport, which clearly states all the time from which view I am looking.

But in ZBrush?

Any solutions? I struggle with this all the time. And these tiny blue, red, green coordinate-lines are not very helpful.

How do you deal with this, without trying out different symmetry settings and, well, just guessing?

Any hints very appreciated!

Thank you!

Olaf

You may certainly try out my user interface. Link below post to related files. Happy ZBrushing.

Thanks, Doug. But which link/download fixes my problem especially? I do not want a complete new – or your – UI-layout, you know? I just want to see the direction-label I am looking at.

Thinking about it again … The solution is easy within the draw-menu. I’ll have to check if I can make it to be sticky within every ZB startups.

This might help; although the active view isn’t identified as you’re accustomed to in the window somewhere. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=444413&d=1424129069

Hi Doug,

what do I do with these files?

I tried loading the scripts in the Zscript-menu, but nothing happened. I am rather new to Zbrush, you know.

Thanks for your help!

Olaf

Within the ZBrush main directory is a Startup folder and below that is Macros. Place the entire folder inside that Macros folder.
Lower image on the page below is what should then be in the Macros menu.

Thank you. Glad you got it working. Most of the others are as simple to install  Enjoy
