I’ve recently had the itch to do some figurative sketches.
I think this is absolutely brilliant! This is my favorite piece of sculpture i have seen on zbrush central in a long time (top row or otherwise). It feels so alive and real and while I know alot of that is helped by the fact that you are working from such a dynamic photo, your experience with traditional sculpture shows through in your forms. Great job!!!
Jon Payne
Thanks for your awfully kind words Jon DP. I had a lot of fun with this piece.
You’ve got a great and strong variety of work too. I especially like your traditional sculptures of the Young Maasai woman, “Soaked” mini-bust, Torso-Anatomy study, etc. that you have on your blog. There’s loads of creative work on your site.
At last, some new stuff to see and it’s looking good! Powerful sculpting, it has a feels like you worked with your bare hands on real clay - putting chunks of clay onto an armature and building up from the inside out, shaping with the wooden hammer and the big rake in some very intense sculpting session (hope that makes sense…). Very expressive
. More, please.
Hi Etcher,
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, it has been a while since I’ve posted anything here. I see you’ve been super productive :).
Fortunately, I have been creating lots of 3D visuals. Unfortunately, lately it hasn’t involved much ZBrush, but I’m working to change that.
I modeled this Oliver typewriter for a website I’m working on with the band ohGr. I’ve just about finished concocting how I’d like to turn this already beast of a typewriter into a real monster, which will definitely involve lots of ZBrush sculpting -
Great stuff… I really like the man gets punched.

Incredible Details and materials. Fantastic! Congratulations!
good stuff eric. i used to be a huge skinny puppy fan back in the day. i just checked out the ohGr site…nice work, i like the creepy dystopic details. i was definitely expecting some tripped out demon somewhere along the way
‘…so many times tried not to wonder’
Nice post, excellent.
Thanks for the kind words Beto_Prado, michalis and skinnybonez.
Beto_Prado - I really dig your wildlife sculpts.
michalis - No wonder you sculpts such as tanagrea look so amazingly authentic. You live in Athens, Greece :). How cool must that be?
skinnybonez - Thanks for checking out wdihtf.com. And thanks for the feedback. It’s been very cool getting to develop that site. Especially since I, like you, have been a long time fan of Skinny Puppy.
I’ve promised myself I’m going to begin another fighter sculpt next, but before I do, here are a few more renders (showing base meshes) from wdihtf.com -

nice
Oh, very nice! The key, though, wouldn’t work in real life.
Thanks for the feedback steventaylor and Joopson.
I almost forgot this work example. ZBrush made designing the armor for this company’s logo a lot fun -
My wicked dark version -
What cool looking stuff!
Thanks Conniekat8. Your sculpts very alluring :). I hope you have an update coming to the winged figure you’ve been working on.
Here’s a very rough sketch of a character who’s the epitome of blunt observation and intolerance. It has no sense of sight, smell or hearing. What it touches that doesn’t fit into its cube like claws, gets crushed. It’ll always try to fill the hallow cavity where its heart should be -
What can I say Eric… … this is -again- a strong piece, with a strong message, beautiful and powerful! I noticed you have some organic/bone/muscle/skin stuff goin’ on on his back; maybe it would be cool to bring stuff like that into his forearms and fingers connecting to the cubes -just a thought.
Glad to see some of your new work!

wow wicked monster !

Not so cool these days…
