loqutos, yes the ears and tail were flattened after skinning. Apparently, this is where most of the refinement comes in. I could have used other tools such as the standard sphere to make the ears, then attached them post modeling, but that would probably have not looked as good, since I don’t use the smudge tool very well! I used the low poly adaptive skin, set on 3 for resolution. This gave me a great start for further modeling. I have found that the unified skin, which is super hi-poly, is more difficult to model, since the slightest move has dramatic results. The low poly is smooth enough to look really good, yet still very workable. Give it a try!
