Edge Loop

How do I go about adding one loop? The pic with the red line is where I want to add one edge loop. The pic on the left is what I get when I use the edge loop button.

I dont think you can in Z. =(

Well I think that would stink.

well u got to watch it on this , because I don’t know if u would want a loop right in the middle of the thing then YES its impossible, I don’t think u can cut or hide just half of a loop.
But if u want to add a loop on each of the polys then yes u can do that, you’ll just have to hide part of it. (hopefully u know how if not its by pressing Ctrl-Shift)

there are two ways I can think of to add a loop there.
One, divide the mesh.
Two, do it in another app.
Thats about all I can think of right now. Sorry mate =(

Yes this can be done although not exactly the way you want it. You can add two edge loops in the position you want using the Edge Loop button. This things are hard to explain so I made a litle zscript to demonstrate.

@dfaris:
what you mean isnt a loop!
Edgeloops have no begin and no end …

Hi
To add to the information posted above (thanks :))…
dfaris: It is possible to do that but you’ll need to use the bridge-gap mode of the edge-loop function. I will post an image of the required steps shortly.

Here are the steps…

  1. The initial mesh.
  2. Isolate the sliver of polygons which will be divided.
  3. Move the points on the left side. In this example, I have moved all left-side points to the center by applying Tool :small_orange_diamond:Deformation :small_orange_diamond:Flatten at 100%.
  4. Press the Tool :small_orange_diamond:Geometry :small_orange_diamond:EdgeLoop which will add new edge polygons - bridging the gap between the current position of the transformed points to their previous position.
  5. Unhide hidden polygons.

To learn more about the edge-loop function I recommend that you view the Modeling:Edgeloop tutorial which is available in the Z2 help information.

Hope this helps

Sometimes we really need one intervention of ZB-guru  Thank you very much, Pixolator :+1:

OMG like the hammer script you made …man…Pix saves the day once again.
Nothing more to say but you rock as always!
 :+1: :+1: :+1:

Thanks Pixolator,

Yeah I had messed with the bridge gap but I did not do it correct. in the PDF or manual it said to move points before you use the edge loop and I only moved some points not all of them.

I’ll give it a shot.
