Hi - after using zmodeler qmesh and clip curve I am getting artifacts around the edges of my model when I turn on dynamic subdivisions. I am guesing this may have something to do with the clip curve bunching points and polys on top of each other. I tried welding points and mesh intergrity fix mesh too but the problem persists. Once in divide mode I can’t seem to select the extra polys I can see - so cant delete them. What is the best way to clean up the geo?
Thanks!

mesh before dynamic divide - cant see the extra polys around edge
Hello @smurf606!
Yes, the clip brushes are essentially “flatten” brushes–they do not change the topology, they merely smash it together. This may not be helpful with low poly work. You may wish to use the Trim brushes instead, which will actually slice into the topology, and delete the excess.
Dynamic Subdivision is great for previewing how the mesh will look when subdivided, but is not always good to have enabled when you want to work on the mesh. It will distort the placement of the points, and make them difficult to grab. I usually switch it on to look for issues that may not be apparent when the mesh is unsubdivided, then switch it off to zoom in and clean up geometry, often with the Point > Stitch action in ZModeler.
Sometimes though, it is difficult to see the points if they are close together without dynamic subdivision on–in those cases, you’ve got to focus on which element is actually being highlighted by ZModeler, and not just where the cursor is. When DS is on, the geometry you see is not always where it appears to be. Move your cursor around until ZModeler highlights what you’re after. Be sure to reduce the size of the ZModeler brush radius to be able to zoom in and work on smaller sections with accuracy.
Remember to add creases to edges you want to stay crisp when smoothing. If you see an edge soften too much and retreat when Dynamic Subdivision is on, there propbably needs to be creasing in that area. That can be assigned with the Edge > Crease function in Zmodeler, or via the functions in the Tool > Geometry> Creasing menu.
will look at the trim brushes - Thanks Spyndel!
