dynamic brush size

can anyone explain what gives with the dynamic brush size toggle? i.e why is it required that shift is pressed; is it on or off and how do I tell - it seems to be acting weird…

Shift must be pressed to toggle Dynamic on or off. Apparently it was put in place to keep people from accidentally switching it off if they increase/decrease the brush size by clicking and dragging on the slider. Some tools in R7, like ZModeler, require that Dynamic mode be active and it will switch it back on if you turn it off.

As far as telling whether it’s on or not, I suppose just by the usual ways… “Dynamic” will be greyed out in the slider, and the brush size behavior will be noticeably different.

I have my dynamic set to a shortcut key so I don’t have to hold shift to switch it off and on. I like the new change though as mentioned I don’t have to worry about accidentally turning it off/on when adjusting the brush size.

thanks. But that’s a nuisance that, the pressing shift thing. I’ve never had a problem switching it on accidentaly, plus now I feel like I’m toggling it on off for the smooth brush… still, I’ll get used to it. And there’s no point asking for the toggle to be moved to a separate button to appease cack handed stylus pilots, much less a pref to turn the behaviour off

It’s working as expected now too - when I originally posted it wasn’t switching dimmed/undimmed, perhaps I wasn’t timing it right with the shift.

all sorted now.

thanks again
