Dumb question! Sorry!

Hello all, good to be here.

This is going to sound like a stupidly dumb question and I am sure that it has been asked before, but I cannot seem to nail the answer down. So… here goes.

Zbrush 3 so far has been jaw dropping. I am only just starting to use it and I love it! I get the feeling though that I may have misunderstood what this application is when I purchased it. not that I mind though, so far I feel it was worth the money.

What I need to know is: Is this only a modeling application or can it be used to make photo real images or close to. Or at least great looking images (stupid question I’m sure but I am new to all this).

I understand that you can’t make animation movies with this, you’d need poser or similar for that. But just what is the limit with this?

Am I going to need to shell out $2k-$3k for another 3d application to get photo real stills? ok I know I am being premature as I need to get some skills in using this app, its more of an interest question.

Lastly, does anyone have some links to places where people have used Zbrush and nothing else to create images that would show what can be done with this, so far, very impressive application.

Again sorry to sound dumb but this is all so new and exciting to me.

It’s ok now! Found the answer to my questions. Thank you anyhow.

There’s no such thing as a dumb question.

People have used Zbrush as both a modelling application as well as making realistic 3d illustrations.

Just look at the top row for some examples. Make sure to click on the “More” button to see the rest of the gallery.

Maybe not dumb but certainly naive! :o

I’m so new to 3D digital art and am a little daunted by everything, though I am slowly getting my bearings.

ZBrush is amazing and is so powerful. I was confused at first as to what could be achieved with it, but after some playing around I am amazed at what I have done in such a short time!

I’m now very glad I started with ZBrush and not another 3D application. I ran a 30 trial of 3D Studio and the PLE Maya, and although both these applications are amazing, it feels more natural to work in ZBrush.

I have spent many years trying to find a tool I can use to create things from my imagination. I have allot to learn yet, but I am confident I have finally found what I am looking for in ZBrush. :+1:
