Drip catcher WIP

…after passing through the back glands of the Drip catcher, the sap of the poisonous milk fig is rendered harmless…

My first real modelling project in ZBrush and a great learning experience, with the need to plan ahead the hardest learned lesson.

It’s all one skinned zsphere chain I made up as I went along, which caused problems during the course of putting it together.

The near hind leg of the lizard is attached to the fruit by an ‘invisibilised’ link to stop the fruit’s mesh from buckling - this made it hard to adjust the positioning of the lizard. I should really have attached it by one of the legs behind the fruit, which aren’t modelled anyway. In this view you can’t really see, but the foot is not actually on the fruit - I’ll fix this in the next stage of modelling, together with the head and finer details.

I started at the top of the plant and worked down, but I would have been better off starting with the lizard so I could make it with symmetry turned on and then pose it later.

I really like the ability to make zsphere links invisible. It makes it possible to have several ‘separate objects’ in the same tool, which helps to work out poise and weight. I used it here for the drips and am sure to use it again.

I have neglected art for a long time now but am rekindling an almost forgotten passion with the help of ZBrush. It’s great and inspiring too to see the wonderful range of work posted on this forum.

I certainly do like this! How did you get the nice clean curve on that tail? Mucho ZSpheres?

That’s really cool. Might be hard to texture having it all together, but it looks great.

I didn’t even think about rendering with the links invisable. Thanks for the tip.

Interesting! I really look forward for the finished picture! :+1:
