Draw size of one Exagerates sculpt tools properties in 2020.1

Model has real world dimensions. If I try to do any detail with a brush size of one the tool overpowers the entire subtool.

Hi @Dokterrudi

Sounds like your model is problematically small in the Zbrush worldspace. This will have performance implications for many processes in Zbrush, and is not recommended. This video explains some of the reasons why.

You can try switching off Dynamic mode for the brush by double clicking the “dynamic” toggle in the brush size slider. This will let you size the brush in more absolute terms, but working with the mesh at that size is going to keep producing problems.

The ideal working size in Zbrush is for the tool to be in the ballpark of 2 on the Tool > Geoemtry > Size slider. By default, Zbrush will auto scale imported meshes to work in Zbrush, and record the value for exporting them again at the proper size, but Im guessing you bypassed this somehow? This is not a good idea if you have much mesh editing to do in the program.

Thanks for the info. Now the model is almost 2 meters in Maya and I like to stay consistent through my process. Are you saying that realistic dimensions can be problematic? I mean I can work around of course I just need to know if I have to take scale into account when working in other programs.

I said this in my first sentence, and provided a video explanation. The Zbrush worldpsace is a very deliberate thing that makes many of the things that Zbrush does possible. Tools that are too large or too small in that worldpsace will perform poorly–but again, Im repeating myself.

If properly imported, most of the time you dont have to worry about this–the mesh will be scaled to work in Zbrush, then re-scaled back to the original dimensions upon export. You can run into problems if you deliberately bypass this, or are inconsistent in the way you import multiple meshes that need to work together.

Yes… I get it. Didn’t notice the link because my eyes don’t see all colors. And I was just trying to clarify. Didn’t mean to insult.
