Doomsday!!!

Here is my attempt at building the creature that killed Superman!
The model was originally built in 3dsMax (poly personal exercise), then detailed and textured in Zbrush2.
I finally created a normal map, imported the model into XSI 5.0 and added the fast skin shader, with hair. I am still learning 3dsMax, so the final detailing and render is in XSI.
I am open to suggestions for any added comments or suggestions. I am new at this process of real skin, etc, so please let me know.

whoa, that’s a great looking doomsday! you gotta add at least a neck and shoulders to that bad boy. give him a real sense of bulk. the hair is nice, but seems to be flying everywhere unexplainably. keep working on this one, it’s a great start!

Looks really nice! My only suggestion would be to sharpen up and make more jagged the bones sticking out of his jaw and maybe his teeth as well. He actually was able to cut Superman with those jutting bones.

I loved that graphic novel. My only wish is that you put a little more definition into the jaggedness of the teeth and bones on his head bro. Other than that its awesome

Woohoo, someone to kill all of those Alex Ross supermen! Its a good start, the eyes may need more work, but its hard to tell from the view.

great colours! I really like it. It doesnt look like a traditional zbrush goblin/monster at all

Very cool indeed!
Keep up the good work!

CHeers!

Dude I told my friends about this model and they wanna know if you are gonna comp it when you are done and make it into a wallpaper :+1:

Wow! Thanks for all the comments!
I used to work in production, so I was trying to keep the geometry efficient …in regarding the bones. Seeing this was meant to help train, in 3dsMax, I didn’t consider this.
I will definitely continue this character … maybe add torn Superman suit, etc.
Still considering making the full body … just takes time. I loved the Hulk, by Matt Cioffi, and I hope he doesn’t mind if I use his model as a reference - amazing model!
As far as the hair, the creature is always in a frenzy and to have the hair down, would take this characteristic away.

I just added sharper edges to the bones and teeth.
I am having difficulty trying to match the ZB detailed model to XSI, using a displacement map, but it is too finicky and frustrating to match. So I created a normal map to compensate. If anybody has an easier way to import the obj model with the displ map, please let me know.

I am about to create the hands with the torn Superman suit.
Unsure if I will add a full body.DD_shrpr1_smll.jpg

Love the update. I think you should smooth it out about twice more and cut into the teeth. I remember doomsday having teeth that scared me.The teeth were not only jagged but also worn down on the interior & sides

Me too, is about one year around, but nothingh…also if you use the high res mesh you loss detail.
Good job man

So I took your comments in mind, and rebuilt the teeth.
I also built the Superman Returns crest … unfortunately Doomsday hated the idea. As far as the wallpaper request, here is an image that is 1280 x 960.
I hope this is okay.

I have to continue learning 3dsMax, so I will need to continue this in the future.
I appreciate all your comments, and hope you have a fantastic New Year!!!

Kick ass! I’d reduce the hair a bit though. Looks a bit as if Supes pulled his scalp off! Well if the guy would be that gay to start pulling hair, he’d deserve nothing else but to get is ass kicked big time!

Anyways, great work!

As comic fans we have to say it is even better than the comics themselves. Great work.
