Does anyone understand the HSV hue & Tint sliders in Color adjust

I have been trying to figure out what seems like it should be simple, to no avail, maybe some one can explain the HSV slider, and the tint slider to me and how they are interrelated, in the texture color adjust window.

I find the HSV hue does nothing on its own, which in itself seems odd, shouldn’t this slider simply change the hue? This slider seems tied some how to the Tint slider because only after you adjust the tint, which is normally to mean adding white to a color, does the hue slider actually work.

And then once you do that and get the Hue slider working, what exactly is the tint slider doing it seems to be adjusting the hue as well. It is almost as if it is working with the color picker box to the left of it.

Any way totally confused by this , love to hear from some one that really understands this!

Thanks

Hello @Zolly,

It should and does on my system. However, your image needs to have colors at a certain level of saturation to see it change.

Select Texture 40 from the Texture palette menu–it is a radial rainbow color pattern reminiscent of a normal map. Open the Texture> Adjust Color menu, and hit the “Reset” button at the top to undo any changes you’ve made to the settings. All the slider values on the bottom except the Gamma sliders should be at zero.

Now adjust the Hue slider. You should see the colors change. Because of the color pattern, they will appear to almost rotate in the window.

Hit the “Reset” button again. Select “Texture 1”, which is the picture of the museum with the white walls.

Now select a bold green color in the color selector. Adjust the “Tint” slider, and you should see your image tinted with some degree of this color. Max slider is 100% of the selected color, lesser values are some % of this color.

If your experience is not as I describe above, please contact ZBrush support for assistance.

Thank you!
