I was wondering whether I have to get a graphic tablet such as wacom to do my scupting? or using a mouse should be ok?
Please give me some advises.

For sculpting and also painting a graphics tablet is indispensable because of the pressure sensitivity of the pen which can bot be achieved with a mouse.
No question about it. Get a tablet. It takes a bit to get used to, but modeling with it is so much easier and more natural. As far as size goes, it really depends on how you operate. If you use small strokes then a smaller tablet will suit you just fine. On the other hand, a larger tablet (one closer to your screen size) might suit your larger movements better. A Wacom is a “must have” for any digital artist nowadays.
it’s not just recommended, a tablet is essential if you want to get anywhere with your zbrushing. i’ve got an intuos 3 a5 wacom and its really great recommended

I’ll just chime in with the rest on this one and say that buying a tablet will be one of the best investments you can make for your artistic progress. I worked for the longest of times without one, but after I got mine I cant see how the hell I managed without it. I too have an Intuos 3 A5, but since I work on a widescreen monitor I got the “wide” edition.
hell I have a tablet, a tablet lcd and a tablet pc… They are all indispensable tools for my work and play
I agree I bought a 9x12 intuos a few weeks ago and I’m loving it.
tablet all the way

Yes, working with a mouse is like drawing on paper with a rock. Tablets are a HUGE advantage to getting what you want.
Aye. A must-have for digital sculpting and painting.
Yea, I’ve got an intuos 3 now for about 6 months…
first two weeks were spent frustratingly getting used to the change in hand positioning and the general differences in technique required to make proper use of it…
but after you get used to it, you will gradually come into natural unity with how tablets perform and you will get to where you were with the mouse and well well beyond that… then you’ll look back and be amazed that you even attempted to model/sculpt/texture with a mouse.
no if’s and’s or but’s … tablet #1
im buying a new computer in the next couple weeks… then the next toy is a cintique lcd tablet , draw right on your screen how great is that!
I’m saving up for a Cintiq
I need a tablet as well, but can’t aford a wacom. You guys know of a second best?
If you want your tablet to be functional with a wide variety of software ( including Zbrush ) dont stray away from wacom… stick with them
they have many various tablets, some as cheap as $125.00
if you cant afford that , you need to pickup a new job or stop spending so much money on weed.
haha
j/k
Its affordable though, cant expect to find anythin cheaper then that less you go used for an outdated model… which you wont be doing your artistic talents any justice by doing that.
The interactive display is the best, if it gets any better itll just be an evolution of itself - it beats an offscreen tablet, but thats why its expensive.
they came out with a small version of the cintiq lcd tablet not too long ago
its more affordable… but still way up there…
I’ve used one before, definately top notch , responsive and light enough to even draw with it sitting on your lap… Rotating it around is easy and there is no reason it cant double as a 2ndary display for other purposes as well.
The surface is very smudge/scratch friendly… didnt seem to be a problem when resting your arm accross it etc like you might expect.
Just got a Intuos3 9x12 tablet in the mail today. I honestly have to say this is the greatest thing I’ve bought in a long long long time. It’s really excelent! =]
I just bought a previous used 6x8 Intuos 3 off of Ebay. Wasn’t sure if 4x6 would be enough. The mouse work was ruining my hand so there really wasn’t much of a choice involved.
After getting the Wacom. I’m thinking the 4x6 might have been just fine. Saved a nice mint on the price, so no complaints here. You can always reduce the active area on the larger ones anyway.
I really want a Cintiq as well, but I have a future feeling/knowing about where it can go compared to where it is now.
I want a wireless PC tablet client with the same Cintiq/Wacom functionality. So I don’t have to sit at a desk to do the art stuff. I couldn’t buy a laptop as powerful as my Desktop PC is now, but I sure am missing that go where ever aspect the laptop offers. So I got my fingers crossed on Wireless Desktop PC Tablets coming into play soon.
Get one ASAP. I have a Wacom A5 Wide and I love it!
agree on that!
it would be really awesome having a tablet Pc like that.
i know they’re there yet butactually dunno if they’re on par with what a Cintiq offers? (in Italy tablet pcs are not so diffused )
having such a tablet pc, would offer a good mobility so that you can literally create where you want, same as a sketchpad, but with digital power too
