Do we maybe need a sketchbook forum?

When I visit the main forum these days it seems less of a discussion place with some images but more of a place to show and store sketchbooks. :frowning:

Its nice to see the cool work people are doing and learn from it  but at the same time its less of a place now to see what people are talking about. :frowning:

Definitely need two forums. One for 2d and other for 3D.

I like to have my 2d and 3d divided so doesn’t clutter things up.

dan roberts, i agree its a mess.
kravit, would you then want one for the 2.5d art? honestly i think its a bad idea.

fine as it is
The 2d wave is pixologics own fault and is ok aslong as not every sketch is posted.
Wait
 its same for 3d

i dont think we need another dead subforoum, we already have enought of them ;D

They are two different arts, so they need their respective forums. Every other bloody website on net as same setup, So it proven method to keep things organized.

but 3d art is seen on your monitor as 2d, lol.
its all art regardless of dimension.

or maybe they should have a forum just for work that is made and rendered completely in zbrush. hehe.

anyway back on the original topic, at some point the sketchbook levy is going to break and they will have to do something. honestly i’d rather see individual posts about a particular work and if people want to show their sketchbooks then they should do it on their blog.

Yes Please

As a long time teacher of art at Art School level and Universities I can only hope that the powers to be in this forum make a sub forum for these “sketchbook - painting tool type images”.
I mean most of these are not really worthy of first year students and have so many basic flaws that it really gets in the way of the 3D stuff.

Tough statement but most likely very true!

there is so much wrong with your whole statement that i can only lol at academic opinion.

no restrooms here either.

arent we in it right now?

Looks like I might have touched a raw nerve here.
If you are so enlightened then please explain your opinion (ie what is so wrong with my earlier statement) so that we can all benefit from your immense wisdom.

BTW Just so that you know - although I teach I have also been a professional exhibiting artist for 30 years.
So please be a little careful about putting down academics.
Academia with all its faults has one great redeeming factor and that is that we can not hide behind our little monitors and make sweeping assumptions and opinions without having them debated at length by others of our peers.
I suppose that is a something you would naturally be wary of by the negative sound of your opinion of academics.

Anyway - have a good day and be well.

Dude this is an artists forum, were all oversensitive, especially in the off-topic section.
Even though this section is kind of dead it seems to be growing.

The off topic sections of forums are my favorite and can lead to hilarious threads.

So to stay on topic, I think the main form is fine in it’s beautiful chaos, I do think there should be a couple of different galleries though.

HEAR! HEAR!:+1:
Except to read Aurick’s comments don’t see why anyone even
goes up there.
Only a bunch of orcs.
