Do i need "shave and a haircut" for maya if i create character's hair with ZBrush ?

Hi

Zbrush can model everything, including hair for organic character, but can these hair be “rigged and animated” (don’t stay static) in maya then or would i need to create it again in maya? I ask this questions because maya hair is not the best tool made and so if zbrush can’t be rigged and animated in maya the, i’ll buy shave and a haircut.

It is possible to export your fibers from ZBrush as guides to be used with your other animation package to then generate hair with its solution. That way you don’t need to completely redo your style.

It is of course also possible to export the fibers as geometry but that will most likely get quite unwieldly in your other program. Too many polygons to work with efficiently.

In terms of the specifics such as whether you actually need Shave or if Maya can natively use the ZBrush-created guides, I can’t answer that question because I’m not proficient in that software package.
