Here are some WIP images of what will be a game-res (high-end) character model of Conan the Barbarian (recent movie fame/Jason Momoa likeness not Ahhnold) for my portfolio. Please disregard the featurelss flap thing on his belt, as that will be an alpha plane later on in the process. In addition, the rounded edges on his clothing will be going away for the same reason. Comments/crits welcome! I will be working on his sword/hair/Uving next. I also plan to give him an expression kind of like the one in the reference. This will probably take a while since I am working full time while I do this, so bear with me! I used Nick Zuccarello’s awesome base mesh for this model.

Looking really good. Anatomy looks great, I really like the look of him so far.

Thanks, adio38!

So the only question is…which sword do I give him?

Been working on texturing for a while whenever I have gotten time (using ZBrush for that as well), but now back to sculpting for the details for his sword. No real feedback on which people wanted lol, so I just went with my gut and decided on his father’s sword. Once I finish texturing, I will be posting the results for all to see.

Nice sculpt and details ,i think the ears ar an little to smal or to low.

Thanks, marrakech, and good call on the ears. I agree that they are too small and maybe too low.

Here is a shot of the textured model:

Really excellent model! Liking the pose and render less, but your modeling skills are top notch, that is an excellent likeness and has terrific anatomy and details.

Thanks, EricShawn! Can you please elaborate at all on what specifically you found lacking on the render? I want to continue to get better, and would much appreciate the feedback.

I agree, I think the model looks great. As far as the render/composite he cast no shadow also the light that we see on the model doesn’t match the light we see in the environment as far as direction. In my opinion great lighting is the biggest problem with this render. The other thing I would think about is pushing the pose further (just before it breaks) to make it more dynamic.

But I must say great job on the model.
