distorted scaling/scale hand so fingertips get bigger?

I was looking at my hand and realized that it narrows way too much as the fingers move from the hand than it should with the fingers apart from each other like that. Not sure if I am explaining well so I made the pic. Basically, fingers need to be thicker at figertips and yet not lose shape.

I am not sure how I can use the transpose tool in scale mode to do this (or if I can, even). Every time I use move brush on fingers it takes hours and hours to get everything in place again. Is there some better way?

You should be able to use TransPose.

Mask everything except one finger. Ctrl+Click on the masked area to soften the edge.

Draw your TransPose line so that it follows the length of the finger.

In Scale mode, drag on the circle at the tip of the finger. This will scale it thicker and longer.

In Move mode, use the same (tip) circle to shorten the finger back to the correct length.

When I do that the proportion of the fingers stays exactly the same.

I want to make it so that it is scaled in a distorted manner ie the base stays the same, the tip gets big, and things in between scale proportionally to how close to the tip they are.

just use move in transpose…place one part of the line at the base of the finger, the other at the tip of the finger…then drag the tip point away from the hand.

All that does is make the fingers longer.

the figertips are too narrow. I basically need to inflate them, but to have it be done with respect to the other fingers as well and to work through an axis across the fingertips.

Like if you took a cylinder and made it into a traffic cone.

Oh well, I just did it with the move brush. I tried alt move and alt scale but they had kinda funky results. I hate to redo the fingers for the millionth time but I guess that’s the only way to do it.

two things, if you have lower resolutions its much easier to do and you get better results.
second, did you try masking off each finger, inverting the mask and just using deformation: inflate?

Eventually, did I end up redoing it by using move transpose to spread the fingers apart and then inflating. It had a lot of cleanup involved, but it was better than the problems I got out of move brush.

It seems there must be some way to do what I want exactly, but I can’t figure it out and I am not sure I did a good enough job explaining what I want. Hopefully it won’t come up again soon. Hands have been a huge pain.
