Display problem when rotating...take a look

When I rotate the model I’m getting a ghosting or double model image for the first moment…check out the video and let me know if you’ve run into this before. I’m running 4r8p1 on a windows machine with plenty of ram and whatnot. Is there a performance setting I could try?

Thanks.

does this happen on all meshes, or just dense meshes?
what size is your document?
what are your preference/memory and … performance … settings at? Not sure on the name. The one that has hyper threading in it.

Does this happen with other Mat Caps?

To me it happens the same when I have several tools and when I have load of polygons.

It happens on any mesh and my document size is small 852x1552

Also doesn’t matter which matcap I use.

max threads 12

multi threads steps 5

solo mode.001

preload file size 250

I’m experiencing this also, not only when rotating but zooming or panning models with relatively high poly counts without subdivision levels (dynamesh).

Same thing happens to me on my work machine, and both my personal machines.

Having sub-ds and a lower poly base level on the model makes a huge difference. Heavy meshes (without subdivisions) get hit with this frame hitch issue way earlier.

That being said, even with sub-ds on all meshes, you’ll get hit with the frame hitch issue once you hit a certain poly count threshold.

This is a pretty well known issue among users I believe, but I haven’t seen a comment on it from Pixologic. It was visible in the 4r8 announce livestream.

Hi Kolby! Yeah it’s not a ‘hitch’ exactly. I’m familiar with that with big models, the hesitation. This is a double image or a double model that happens when rotating and it bugs the **** out of me. It looks like two models for a fraction of a second.

Yeah I agree ‘hitch’ isn’t the best terminology, we’re definitey talking about the same bug. To me it almost looks like the tool is being momentarily dropped to canvas, creating a duplicate effect before updating with the rotation, pan or zoom.

It bothers the hell out of me too, I’ve been sticking to 4r7 for the time being.

Right. Well we’re getting the upgrade at work soon so I’ll see if it happens there. Might just be a graphics card issue, but i don’t know. Not really wanting to replace that at the moment.

I’ve experienced it on my desktop, laptop, mobilestudio pro and work machine. All the guys at work that I’ve talked to have experienced it as well, so I’m pretty sure it’s not hardware specific. Really doubt its video card related, my understanding has always been that Zbrush is completely CPU dependent.

Crossing my fingers that P2 fixes the issue.

hope you’re well

Huh. Well I shall wait and see. Thanks for the info!

I’m having this same issue. I think it really does momentarily drop the tool to the canvas. I had some times when my brush accidentally interacted with the “ghost” mesh.

I’m also having some serious problem with the standard brush. It has some ridiculous visual errors that make it pretty much useless.

patience I guess. it happens to me as well. I hope they fix it on the next release! I dont think is related to the graphics card or pc

I’m having this same issue, lets hope it is fixed soon…
