Displacement maps don't match with Diffuse map

I’ve imported a new mesh carrying the UV layout I want to use. I generate the diffuse map from the highest sub-division. Drop down to my lowest and generate the displacement map. The problem is they don’t match up in certain areas…

…and in other the displacement map has artifacts. Any ideas on what this could be?

Hey,

I recently had a similar issue where the color maps didn’t line up.

I have my guess at what the cause is, but I could be waaaaay off… I’m guessing it has something to do with when you create your diffuse map from poly-painting your at your highest resolution. But when you generate you disp map you do it from your lowest resolution. The form of the model is different. Might explain why the button texture doesn’t match with the disp map. But doesn’t explain the other problem I’m running into with img # 2… I’ll hammer away at this and if I find something I’ll post it up but any guesses at a solution would be welcomed.

Ninjarobot, what did you end up doing? find any work around’s?

Which version are you using? Are you following the tips here: https://support.pixologic.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=42

sorry, Aurick. Always forget to post the obvious things… 3.5 R3… I read that over and see what happens, thanks for the reply!

Same results using the tips and tricks that were suggested. I did a UV check and that came up fine. Still I thought maybe the map layout was bad so I created a GUV layout and generated my maps using it and still got the same results as the posted image show. Not sure where the problem is…

@AndrewPavlick
So far I’m following this thread. I don’t have any answers.

ZBrush3.5R3
basemesh Zsphere
generatiog UVs from UVmaster that seem to be working fine
generating 2kdisplacement maps adaptive 32Bit No UVsmoothing
generating difuse image from create new texture from polypaint.
rendering in Max2010 mr using turbo-smooth and displace modifiers.
standard materal with bitmap pluged into the diffuse slot

results are similar to what Andrew is getting. difuse color is just slightly off from the Displacement.

I have a strange feeling this is linked to my displacement problem.
anyone’s help or suggestions would be great.

thanks
