Hello @Kivril

Please post an un-cropped screenshot of your entire interface, including the top bar showing Zbrush version, available memory, and the size of your active mesh.

OK, first thing, update to the most up to date version of Zbrush. Obsolete versions are missing fixes and are not officially supported.

It seems like you should have enough RAM to complete the operation, however you are using resource intensive settings with your Adaptive setting, map size, and DPSubPixel settings. These are what are inflating your map creation times. On a mesh of that density, with those settings, the map creation could easily take 15 minutes. Zbrush isn’t freezing during this time, it’s working. Be sure to click on “estimate time” to get a rough estimate of how long your operation will take with the given settings.

So the issue isn’t that ZBrush is taking that amount of time–that’s expected with those settings–the issue is the blank map.

I believe this is most likely an issue with how high you have your SuBDiv slider set. The map generated will be the difference between the subd level you have set on that slider, and your highest level of subdivision. The higher the level you set here, the less difference between those levels, and hence less of a map. In an EXR, you may not be able to see the grey values with the naked eye. If I’m correct, you should see more of a map develop the lower you set this number. Generally speaking it should be set to whatever the level of the geometry you will be applying the map to is at.

The exception to this is if you set the value on that slider at or greater than your maximum level of subdivision. In that case it will default the the lowest level of subdivision (otherwise there could be no map because there is no difference between the subdivision levels), and generate a visible map.

I recommend disabling adaptive and dropping the subpix value to zero to test this with some quick maps. Once you solve the blank map issue, you can increase your settings again, but expect it to take some time.

I will also note that the recommended midpoint value in the documentation for use with 32 bit mode is zero.

Thhank you for your support!

Part of the problem was overall vertex count. I had around 70 mln. After deleting all the duplicates i left with 47 mln. Then i followed your advice and it worked out!
Thank you!
