Displacement Map Help

I am just finishing up a simple model I want to import into 3DS Max to rig and animate. The model is fairly low detail as I just want to quickly learn a decent workflow for now. I used UV master to create the UVs, then created my texture, normal and displacement maps from 4th sub onto lowest (22k poly). However, when rendering I get some weird dark patches on the model as shown here: http://imgur.com/a/K37jj

When I use GoZ to import the model straight into Max and render with Mental Ray I cant even see any displacement on the model. Could someone help me see where I am going wrong as I have tried everything I can think of! Thanks!
