Disk space critically low when trying to load image?

Hi,
I was wondering if this is a bug or a real error. I have 31gb of space on my HD and I’m getting this error when clicking the ‘Load Image’ button under the Texture tab. Does Zbrush 2018 really need more than 31gbs to load an image?

It also might be helpful to say what I’m trying to do. I have a digital painting that I want to project onto a flat piece of geometry on my model and make it part of the model. I know it has something to do with textures, which is on my list of things to learn about.

Hi,

That’s a bug, so thanks for pointing that out. Please try the attached file to see that it fixes the problem. To install:

  1. Unzip the file to your Desktop.
  2. Open any folder created by the unzipping and locate the ImagePlane_2018.zsc file.
  3. Copy the ImagePlane_2018.zsc to the ZBrushOSX 2018/ZStartup/ZPlugs64 folder making sure you replace the file of the same name that is already there.
  4. Restart ZBrush.

The Load Image button should now work as intended.

On what you are trying to do:

The Load Image button is part of the Image Plane plugin that is described here:
http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/zbrush-plugins/image-plane/

It’s mostly used for using reference images behind a model and the Load Image button sets up an image in a way that suits that purpose.

To simply get an image into ZBrush you would use the Import button at the top of the Texture palette. How you get the image on to your model will depend on what you are intending to do with your model. If you say a bit more about that then I’ll help with the next stage.

Hi Marcus,
Thanks a ton for the response - problem fixed!

Also, thanks for the explanation of Load Image. After some research I found out that what I wanted was a shadowbox feature: paint through a digital painting onto a flat surface ( after importing it as a texture ) so I can show what it will look like mounted on board. Thought it would make for a cool thing to show on my site’s store.

I just upgraded from Zbrush Core and I’m still learning about all the awesome new tools I have.

Thanks again!

You’re welcome, and I’m glad you’ve found out how to do what you want. Good stuff!
