Project:
This is our final project at a cg school in sweden called gscept (http://www.gscept.com).
Dinosaurs are cool! So we decided to make a cg dino integrated with live action footage :slight_smile:

the texture, lighting, sound, everything is REALLY rich i am so jealous as this is really good! i can tell your gonna be getting work when you graduate, i just wish it would of been longer it totally put me in a trance!

the integration could use a little work, there’s a spot toward the end where he actually walks through part of a tree. also, when he’s standing in the shadow of a tree, his shadow should actually darken a bit since light is additive. everything else looks great though, I like that you took the time to add environment shadows and lighting, it really helps sell the shot

wow really great work, my question is where did you learn how to do the Muscle, and ways you tested the animation? any books or tutorials that you would suggest?

Impressive! It is better than the animated dinosaur shows on Discovery Channel. The dappled lighting and light and shade effects were amazing. Let’s have him drink water now.

Some WIP images will be nice.

GOD it’s damn goooooood!!! I LOVE it!!! I always love dinosaurs, your work is fantastic, almost as good as the T-Rex in the jurassic park!

Great job! I was hoping he would sneak in from the left at the end to finish the hunt.

Where was the background plate shot at?

that was great, besides the fact the HQ didn’t really play for me… For the guy that said the t-rex would run through a tree: I was under the impression there were two trees and he was running in between those two…

there are two trees, but whoever comped it seems to have split the frame at the wrong place. I have a friend who’s working on a t-rex VFX reel so I went over the HQ version with a fine toothed comb :slight_smile:

if you zoom in and scrub through the last part, follow the silhouette of the foreground tree and watch where it clips. For the casual viewer, I don’t think anybody would ever tell… but a potential employer is as likely to scrub every frame if they’re thinking about hiring you :slight_smile: Still, for a student reel it’s already of a very high quality.
