devide weirdness

Hi
i have an obj of a vase that i want to detail in zbrush.
i can devide it 4 times, but when i try to devide again, instead of getting just quads i get a model made of all sorts of polys - quads and n-gons.

is this a known zbrush isue or am i doing something wrong ?

thanks

tal

Hi Tal,

That is a known issue in ZB 1.55b. The polygon limit is around 250.000 so when you do your 4th divide it only partially divides the object. If possible, you can divide in an external program and bring that model in for detailing. The next version should be able to work with millions of polygons.

You can check the number of polygons by letting the cursor hover over the Tool icon.
Oh, and welcome aboard

thanks :stuck_out_tongue:

You have the polyframe view active, correct?

The fact is that you’re not getting those strangely shaped polygons. The model’s poly count has simply exceeded ZBrush’s ability to accurately draw it with the resources that are available.

If you switch to Dots, you will see the actual mesh, and it won’t have those strange shapes.
