Detail lost in Lightwave, plz help!

Dear all,

I’m having problem with detail lost when i export the model from zbrush and use displacement map in Lightwave
(see below.) I have tried everything I could possibly think of, (increase subdivision level, using adaptive displacement map, and etc) but I still couldn’t get the details back. Does anyone have the same problem or knows how to fix this?

And another question, it seems like I cannot load any model with 1million+ polys into lightwave. Is this common or is there a way i can fix this? Please reply if you know anything at all.

Thx!

First, I wouldn’t even use a displacement map for Lightwave, using a normal map is much better and is less demanding on your system.
The first thing you will need is Lynx’s 16 bit tiff loader plugin ( google it ) and you can also grab his normal map plugin as well. It works better than Lightwave’s native plugin.
The best method is to export a 16 bit tiff image from Zbrush for the normal map because 8 bit just isn’t good enough to pick up all the fine detail.
I believe Lynx also has a displacement plugin as well which is much better than Lightwave’s.

Be sure to read pages two & three where I switched to normal maps and displacement maps to get perfect mimicry of zbrush render.

OMG IT WORKS!!!
