Desparate for an interface solution! Save me from myself!!!

Hello all,
I’m a virgin zBrush user with about 6 months under my belt. I’m beginning to understand the complexities of the tools, but for the love of GOD…I cannot seem to figure out how to start the program with the brushes that I use most loading by default with their settings (IE lazy brush, strength and focal shift) intact. Ive beat my head on the desk trying to build a macro to do this, but it doesn’t work. I need a solution that will…at the VERY least save my tool setting size, focal shift and lazy brush attributes.

Save me from myself!

Attaching an image of my current project. Don’t laugh. I’m working with the software about 2 hours every day! There are a LOT of differences to learn from my Cinema4D training and experience!MASTER_Facebook_Profile-001.jpg

well maybe it’s a little way around…but I don’t always need lazy mouse etc…

have you tried setting settings of the brush you need, than save this brush as separate brush file, and then putting this editted brush from file in the UI in the place you have standard non altered brush and than save UI ?

Thank you! No, I had not thought of that…but that fixes one of my problems straight away.

As for the bigger issue of redefining what brushes are loaded by default…like the “stronger smooth”, “clip curve” and “lasso mask”…any ideas on that front and how to make that the default? It’s not that it takes forever to change them to the selected brushes, but those three are often my first choices to create and create my rough shapes…and that entirely worthless “click now to turn off until restart” is just making my OCD a proble,

Thanks again!

You should be able to put any non-standard brushes in your \ZBrush 2018\ZStartup\BrushPresets folder to have them load on startup (although its recommended not to have too many load this way).

Otherwise a script / macro should be able to handle setting up all your settings for you. Do you have an example of the macro you tried using that didn’t work?

I might not be clear, but the brushes DO load into the interface. I’m trying to lock the variables (IE curve smoothness, diameter, focal and so on) of the brushes as well as make the preferred brushes my default. In other words, instead of the “smooth” brush being the default when the program starts…to avoid the requirement of me to select the “smooth stronger” brush. It seems kind of petty, but I hate having to hit that “turn this off until next restart” pop-up appears.
