delete hidden problem

I want to add more detail to my character, but when I go to level 6 I get about 8 Miljon polys. Even though I have a dual Xeon with 4 Gb of memory it makes my system very unstable.

So I thought the solution would be to edit all the limbs seperately in the final stage by hiding what I don’t want to work on and using the delete hidden feature. But whenever I delete hidden geometry it looks as if the geometry that is left has been smoothed or something like that. So I loose a lot of detail.

has anyone else noticed this and found a solution for this problem ? If not, is there another way to edit parts of an object seperately without getting visible seems ?

There is an older thread in the Q&T forum discusing this problem and a workaround that might work for you. The thread is here and the workaround (in zscript form) is here.

If that does not work you can try the method posted this thread : How to delete portions of my Ztool. Hope that works for you.

I am not sure if this problem has been corrected in the Mac version. If it has then we will surely get the same functionality in the PC update.
