Howdy. Long time lurker here, and I just wanted to share my midterm here for critiques. I’m taking an intro to zbrush class, and our midterm is a bust. I’m still working out anatomical kinks. I wanted a really muscular muzzle and oversized jaw muscles (masseter?) I’m kind of partial to the dopey look, it just makes the switch to ferocious that much more menacing (well, if it animated). I’ll probably be looking at more dog and horse facial anatomy, which I haven’t been doing so far (shame on me), and hopefully get to some projection master work. I have a week or so untill this is due, so critiques are most appreciated. Thanks bunches

Hey this is cool.
I like it…
It reminds me of something I’m currently working on… Wait a minute!
Hey!
Very cool!
Cheers
Cesar Dacol Jr.
Aka, The Voodoo Monkey
Very cool character Chromosome
I think the eyebrows will resolve the dopey look
I like him a lot, keep posting
PS.
The ears seem a bit to thin to me… any way, great job
looks great so far. I like the design a lot, the side view is sweet.
I agree about the ears being too thin, you have to put the holes in the ears and nose now
looking forward to your updates
Thanks for the comments:D
Voodoomonkey: Thanks. Is what you’re working on posted here? I’ll go and check .I was kind of inspired by the Pterapterons (spelling?) in Blood: The Last Vampire. Nifty monsters, the sound effect when they breath/hiss is awesome.
elarcano and KarimZ: Thanks for the comments and the kind words. I’m a little confused about the ear thickness though. Do you mean thicker through out the entire ear structure?
I love this model. I think its coming along real good. Are you going to add fur to the model when done?
Nice concept. I don’t see dopey, whith the proper expression you’ll get what you want.
It’s all in the context of presentation. I can show you a dopey looking rotweiler up the street, of course if it’s night time and your sneaking alone in his back yard, I’m pretty sure dopey will be the farthest word from your minds grasping reach.
I personnaly meant for the tip of the ear, but now that I’ve checked my cat, it’s actually that thin so it’s fine
Hi Chromosome,
I think Jason’s right, it all depends on the expression and there is where the eyes, the eyebrows and the mouth come in as key elements. Those are basically the 3 main elements that give away a characters mood -just remember the “smiley” faces… here’s a good example:
Whatever expression you give him it’s your call
Regarding the ears I meant the cartilage… with all that mass I would just imagine more robust -thicker- looking ears… but again… it’s your call.
Looking foward to see more of this cool big guy
