Deep Sea (wip)

Hello Zpeople!
Creating a seascape… seems to be a natural thing with ZBrush!
I don’t have much time to explain my technique today so I will update this post with an elaborate explanation of how I’m doing this image sometime in the near future.
Thanks for looking!
Feel free to critique or ask questions!
Have a good one,
Michael

Note: I have not yet added the fish to the image… I plan to model some more species first.

The pieces:

The plain render:

A Zpostwork experiment:

INCREDIBLE!!!What a beautiful underwater scene.I cant wait to know how you did it. :grimacing: :+1: :+1:

Ahhhhh…what a sweet widdle cutesy wutesy…BARRICUDA!!!

hehe…love image P-man!!

Hi Michael, Great control over Zsphere skinning! I’ll be waiting for more. 50.

This looks really good so far; can’t wait for the fish to breed and see the final thing. :+1:

I think you are right that some light effects are needed, but I actually preferred the initial render with the more muted colours and a slightly murkier look to the water. Bit too much contrast and strong colour in the second one, I thought - just MHO. :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hi PusG
Yes, Zbrush is the champion for
Aquarium atmo(z)sphere indeed !
Pilou

Really beutiful…Congratulations

great work
the caustics really add depth.

Nice scene… I think the plain render looks the best… The Zpostwork experiment has too much texture in the water for me and it loses some depth of field I think… Great job in capturing a hazy underwater look… The textured rock/coral looks really good with all the variations of sealife attached to it. :+1: :+1:

Well done on the reef image…looking forward to more futuristic fish. :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

great post michael, you know i gonna steal some of this  :+1: :+1: :+1:

Deep sea…a must to see.
Professional work.

Cool stuff, the detail is amazing.
Great props.

Michael , what an amazing scene , very nice variation in the seascape. Love the models you made for it :+1: :+1: :+1:

wow, that is already phantastic. cant wait for the fishes… very good atmoshpere. keep going !

Really nice picture Pusgetty :+1: I also prefer the first render. Too much contrast on the blue water and the “noise” seems too big and massive on the postworked one. Hope you know what I mean. Also thanks for the low down on the props, never thought of doing something like the sea anemone(?)(bottom left) with Zspheres.

Once again :+1:

thats great, niiiice looking water.

wowsers! very kewl job on this one…I love the plain render myself. … :+1: :+1: :+1:

very nice image micheal, an enchantment image of under the sea… it looks very peicefull… makes me want to be a fish…

Thanks everyone for the great feedback to this image… sorry for my belated response. I’ve been too busy!
Jeff,TVEyes and Nocturnal, I agree about the plain render! The details do stand out more.
Thanks, I will keep experimenting! I am trying to figure out how to add more layers to increase the depth in this image. I have been modeling more fish and other sealife for this and I will be updating this image soon with a walkthrough so please bear with me!
Adios!
Michael
